Our Leadership Team

The day-to-day operation of Clay Center Presbyterian Manor is led by dedicated professionals on our leadership team who bring a wealth of experience and specialized expertise to their positions. As employees of Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America, our promise to you is to live our mission by:

Christian Gilbert, Executive Director

Christian was named Presbyterian Manor’s executive director in April 2017. He has served in a variety of capacities at several senior living communities. He started his career in planning and executing activities for residents before becoming a certified nurse aide. From there, he entered the Administrator-In-Training program in the Overland Park area, and has served as an assistant administrator and administrator for a Colorado-based senior living community system. Christian graduated from Washburn University with a Bachelor in History and Minor in Gender Studies, and will graduate with a Master’s in Healthcare Administration from the University of Cincinnati in 2018.


Heather Germann, Marketing Director/Senior Living Counselor

Heather joined Clay Center Presbyterian Manor in February 1998 as an accounting/marketing assistant. She has served as marketing director since 2007, and also serves as administrative services director. She has a bachelor’s degree from Fort Hays State University with an emphasis in gerontology. She has a long term care administrator’s license. Heather is a member of Kansas Association of Health Care Communicators and past co-chair of Clay County Relay for Life. She is a member of Clay Center Evangelical Covenant Church where her volunteer activities include Meals on Wheels delivery and serving in the nursery twice a year. She is a Clay Center Rotary member. Heather is also a P.E.O. member.


Dawn Langvardt, Activity Director

Dawn joined Clay Center Presbyterian Manor in November 2001. She received her activity director certificate in 1987. She was previously employed by Medicalodge for 20 years, nine years as a nurse aide and 11 years as activity director. Dawn is a member of Clay Center United Methodist Church.


Shannon Wurtz, Human Resources Director

Shannon has been with Clay Center Presbyterian Manor since January 2004. She previously worked in administrative services with Kansas Care, in Concordia, Kansas, and served as program director for Little Saints Day School in Overland Park, Kansas, and Lakeview Village Child Development in Lenexa, Kansas. Shannon has a bachelor’s degree in education from Kansas State University and is a member of the Kappa Delta educational honorary society and the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. She is a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Washington, Kansas, where she serves as catechism instructor.


Judy Riek, Social Services Designee

Judy joined Clay Center Presbyterian Manor in December 1996. She earned a social service designee certificate in 1985. Before joining Presbyterian Manor, she worked at Medicalodge and at Linn Community Nursing Home. Judy is a certified nurse aide and certified activity director. She is a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.


Carissa Wachsnicht, Dining Services Director

Carissa joined Clay Center Presbyterian Manor in June 1994 as a dishwasher. She subsequently worked her way up through every position in that department and was named dining services director after being credentialed as a certified dietary manager in October 2009.


Kent Lips, Environmental Services Director

Kent Lips came to Presbyterian Manor in October 2014 as the director of environmental services. Prior to joining Presbyterian Manor he was self-employed. He is a member of Rotary, Gideons and the Christian Motorcycle Association. He studied business at Bethany College.


“Maggie,” Pet Therapy Specialist

Maggie joined the Clay Center Presbyterian Manor team in May 2007 as the pet therapy dog after completing her obedience training. Maggie’s father was a black-and-white springer spaniel and her mother was a bichon. She resides in Clay Center at the home of Debra Forshee, Presbyterian Manor’s health services director. Debra comments that “Maggie was a quiet, laid back puppy. My husband said if we were going to keep her, she had to have a job. The manor was looking for a pet therapy dog and the rest is history.” Maggie has won the hearts of pet lovers as well as non-pet lovers. She rides the elevator by herself and makes her daily rounds to the residents’ rooms. Staff may come and go, but everyone knows when Maggie is not here.


Jessica Lippe, Health Services, Assisted Living and Home Health Director

Jessica joined Clay Center Presbyterian Manor in July 2011 and was named health services, assisted living and home health director in August 2015. She has worked in long-term care and rehabilitation in various positions from making beds to resident care since 2000. Most recently, she was the quality assurance and restorative nurse for Presbyterian Manor. She received her LPN and an associate’s degree in nursing from Southeast Community College in Beatrice, Neb. She is resident assessment coordinator certified.
