Lifelong Learning

Exploration, discovery and lifelong learning are vital components to living well and play a key role in healthy aging. Studies show that people who stay stimulated intellectually throughout life are typically happier and healthier. Residents of Clay Center Presbyterian Manor routinely participate in a variety of activities that keep them actively engaged in the community and the world.

We host a variety of presentations and informational programs throughout the year. Delivered by representatives of local businesses, staff members, family members and others, the programs cover topics ranging from recent trips to favorite hobbies. To bring their programs to life, presenters can take advantage of the large flat-panel video screen in our education room.

In addition, we offer residents numerous opportunities to pursue their interests in our library located in the chapel.

  • Books from the local Clay Center Carnegie Library are regularly rotated in and out.
  • A touch-screen computer equipped with senior-friendly software allows residents to send email, surf the internet or just play games.
  • Library resources include an abundance of printed and digital media including talking books.

Just Ask

Our Just Ask Lifelong Learning series offers topics of interest to the broader community as well as our residents. Just Ask topics have included wills, balance and falls, winter/summer safety, recognizing the warning signs Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia and recognizing the signs of heart attack and stroke.

Free WiFi throughout the main building enables residents with a computer and Internet access to go online whenever and wherever they choose — from the library, their own desktop or, for those with laptop computers, from anywhere in the building.
