UPCOMING EVENTS

We’re always cooking up something interesting for members of our greater community. From art exhibitions and open house brunches to our popular Just Ask educational seminars and charitable Department of Giving events, find out what’s happening this month.

Out of an abundance of caution, our community has suspended in-person events for the safety of our current and prospective residents. We are conducting virtual tours by appointment. Clay Center Presbyterian Manor is seeking artists age 65 and older to compete in its annual Art is Ageless® juried exhibit and competition March 9-10, 2021, at the community.

Entries of artistic works will be accepted from any area artist who is 65 years of age or older to exhibit and/or compete for an opportunity to be featured in the 2023 Art is Ageless calendar.

The exhibit will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 9 and 10 in the Chapel at Clay Center Presbyterian Manor. A reception is planned from 3 to 6 p.m. March 10 in the Chapel at Clay Center Presbyterian Manor. Public exhibit hours and reception will be determined may be affected by any cases of COVID-19 on our campus and the county COVID-19 transmission rate.

Artists may choose to enter works for exhibit only. For the competition, works must be completed after the artists is age 65 and must be no more than 5 years old, completed since January 2017. There are nine categories, as well as designations of amateur or professional. Works to be entered for judging may be dropped off beginning March 1. The entry deadline is 5 p.m. March 4. The Art is Ageless® program encourages Presbyterian Manor residents and other area seniors to express their creativity through its annual competition, as well as art classes, musical and dramatic events, educational opportunities and current events discussions throughout the year.

Local competition winners will join winners from 14 other PMMA (Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America) communities to be judged at the systemwide level.

Art is Ageless Exhibit

11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Local senior artists will be celebrated March 9 and 10 at Clay Center Presbyterian Manor, 924 Eighth Street, as the community hosts its annual Art is Ageless® exhibit.

Works will be on exhibit in the Chapel at Clay Center Presbyterian Manor. Artists will be celebrated during a reception from 3 to 6 p.m. March 10 at the community.

“It’s inspiring to see the beautiful pieces these seniors have created,” said Dani Kuhlman, marketing director. “The joy it brings to them and others is wonderful, and that’s something we want to celebrate and share with the entire Clay Center community.”

Art is Ageless is a trademarked program of PMMA (Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America). The program offers senior artists the opportunity to share and display their artwork and reaffirms the agelessness of human creativity.

The first Art is Ageless calendar was published in 1981, featuring art from Presbyterian Manor community residents. Since then, the program has expanded to include a juried art competition open to all seniors age 65 and older.

Winning pieces at the community level move on to a masterpiece level judging to determine which pieces are featured in the annual calendar and note cards.

Art is Ageless Reception

3:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M.

Clay Center Presbyterian Manor will honor local senior artists during a reception from 3 – 6 p.m. March 10 at the campus. Winners of the 2022 Art is Ageless® competition will be announced at the event and posted to the community’s Facebook page, www.Facebook.com/ClayCenterPresbyterianManor.

Entries in the annual competition are entered in one of nine categories and are judged in amateur and professional divisions.
