Senior fall prevention topic of free, in-person event

One out of four older adults will fall each year in the United States, making falls the leading cause of injury for seniors. But if you thought falling was just a normal part of aging, you are in for a surprise.

There are steps you can take to keep on your feet and avoid the risk of a fall, allowing you to stay independent longer.

Clay Center Presbyterian Manor will host Fall Prevention for Seniors with Celice Stancil, BS, COTA/L (bachelor of science, certified occupational therapy assistant licensed) and therapy director with Aegis Therapies, in an in-person event at 10 a.m. November 2, 2021, at the Clay Center United Methodist Church, 921 5th Street.

Stancil will share tips for avoiding falls, improving balance and home safety. Bring your mobility aides, and Stancil can guide you in their proper use to avoid falls and increase stability.

Register by contacting Dani Kuhlman, marketing and sales director, at dkuhlman@pmma.org or 785-363-3544, or RSVP online. Reservations are due by October 21.

Fall Prevention for Seniors is part of Presbyterian Manor's Just Ask lifelong learning program of events featuring speakers and topics of interest to seniors and their adult children.
